Is an own server worth it?
An own server provides the freedom to install any software on it. However, you have to take care of the administration of the server yourself and this requires a high level of technical expertise and additional running time. Therefore, I usually advise against using your own server and recommend the use of shared web hosting. (more…)
Many providers are often named who “allegedly do not store any log files”. This subject is completely misunderstood. Many of my readers think: “If a provider saves log files, then they can pass them on to the authorities”. However, it is completely overlooked that the normal process when authorities turn to a VPN service is completely different and in the vast majority of cases, log files of VPN providers are not necessary at all!
